Applied Behavior Analysis - Excellence in Professionalism - Nonaversive Methods
The Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (AABP) was founded to promote excellence in professionalism and a strong commitment to nonaversive methods among applied behavioral analytic oriented technologists of companion animal behavior. The AABP seeks to establish a community of members aspiring to and sustaining these principles.
AABP Members are dedicated to these three pillar principles (click here for elaboration):
- Dedication to the highly efficient and effective technology of behavior, based on the natural science of applied behavior analysis, as opposed to ethological or medical-model orientations
- Standards of excellence in professionalism
- Dedication to nonaversive methods out of respect for the rights, dignity and autonomy of the learner no matter what species they are
Looking for a 'card-carrying' animal-friendly-dedicated professional trainer or behavior consultant, either for yourself, or to refer clients to? You've come to the right place. Check out our directory of members. The AABP is a voluntary niche professional association, specifically for those who are highly qualified and strongly dedicated to treating people and companion animals nonaversively. The AABP is supportive and cooperative with other, primary, certifying bodies and professional associations rather than competitive.
